HOW WE WORK
SEO agency in 6 steps
Ecommerce SEO has its own rules: thousands of URLs, filters, products going in and out of stock and competition from marketplaces. This guide sums up the method we apply on every project.
1. Technical audit: what Google can actually see
Before writing a single line of content, we make sure Google can crawl and index the right pages. In online stores the most common problem is the opposite of what people expect: Google spends its time on filter, sorting and parameter URLs and ignores the categories and products that sell.
The audit covers speed and Core Web Vitals, mobile, structured data, canonicals, redirects, 404 errors, sitemaps and the Search Console indexing report.
What does the initial SEO audit include? The audit covers: technical analysis (speed, mobile, crawlability, indexing), keyword and opportunity analysis, content audit (quality, duplication, cannibalisation), backlink and authority profile analysis, and an assessment of your presence in generative AI. The report includes a prioritised action plan with estimated impact.
2. Keyword research by buying intent
Not every search is worth the same. "9 kW pool heat pump" is far closer to a purchase than "how to heat a pool". We group keywords by intent and assign each group to a single page, so two pages of the same store never compete with each other.
Do you do international SEO for European markets? Yes. We have SEO experience in PT, DE, FR and ES, with hreflang implementation, keyword research by market and cultural adaptation of content. We work with clients such as Pools & More in the PT, FR and DE markets at the same time.
- Categories: generic searches with volume, where traffic is won or lost.
- Products: searches with brand, model or specification, with the highest conversion rate.
- Blog and guides: informational questions that feed GEO and AEO.
3. On-page SEO for categories and products
Every category gets a title and meta description written for the click, a genuinely useful introduction (not a block of keywords), internal links to subcategories and products, and product structured data with price, stock and reviews.
On product pages we write original descriptions instead of copying the manufacturer text, add images with alt text, FAQs and specifications in a format AI tools can read and cite.
Is SEO for e-commerce different from SEO for services? Yes. E-commerce requires optimisation of product pages (schema, images, reviews), category architecture, Google Shopping feeds, duplicate content management and faceted navigation pages. onOrbit Marketing has a specific methodology for WooCommerce online stores, focused on conversion and not just traffic.
4. GEO and AEO: becoming the source AI cites
ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews build answers from pages they see as reliable and clear. To be cited, content has to answer directly, with short definitions, lists, tables and verifiable facts, and the brand has to be mentioned on other reference sites.
That is why our SEO work includes answer pages, FAQ schema, consistent entity profiles (Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, directories) and monitoring of AI answers for the questions in your sector.
What is the difference between SEO, GEO, AEO and AIO? SEO optimises for Google's classic results (organic rankings). GEO ensures your store is cited by generative AI such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. AEO optimises for featured snippets and direct answers (position zero). AIO integrates AI tools into the production and analysis workflow, accelerating results. Together, they cover the whole of modern digital visibility.
Why is GEO important for e-commerce? More than 30% of Google searches already include AI-generated answers (AI Overviews). Tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini are used every day for purchase recommendations. If your store is not cited by these AIs, you lose visibility to competitors who are working on GEO. onOrbit Marketing is a pioneer of this optimisation in Portugal.

5. Content and authority
Google values experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust (E-E-A-T). In practice, that means content written by people who know the product, with real examples, and links from other relevant sites in your sector.
We plan an editorial calendar tied to the categories that sell and build links with judgement: a few links from real sites are worth more than many links from blog networks.
6. Measurement: from rankings to revenue
Rankings are a means, not the goal. We measure clicks and impressions in Search Console, organic sessions and revenue in GA4, and brand mentions in AI answers. The monthly report shows what changed, why, and what comes next.
How soon will I see results from e-commerce SEO? The first technical improvements have an impact within 4 to 8 weeks. Consistent organic traffic growth from 3 months. Solid, scalable results from 6 months. onOrbit Marketing commits to measurable ROI targets and works at no extra cost if the agreed goals are not met within the timeframe.
How much an SEO agency costs
The price depends on the size of the store, the number of markets and the technical starting point. At onOrbit Marketing, monthly plans range from €490 (early-stage stores, up to 15 tracked keywords) to €1,890 (e-commerce across several markets and every search channel). The most popular plan, SEO + GEO + AEO, costs €990 a month.
What matters more than the monthly fee is the return: a category that moves from page two to page one of Google can multiply its traffic several times over, with no cost per click. That is why every proposal starts with an estimate of the traffic and revenue potential of the priority keywords.
- SEO Start (€490/month): technical audit, 10 pages optimised per month and a monthly report.
- SEO + GEO + AEO (€990/month): Google and AI, 4 articles per month and link building.
- Full Visibility (€1,890/month): every channel, several markets and weekly follow-up.
How to choose an SEO agency
Be wary of "number one on Google" guarantees and packages with hundreds of backlinks for a fixed price. A good SEO agency shows you the diagnosis before selling, explains priorities in plain language, gives you full access to accounts and data, and measures success in revenue and leads, not just rankings.
