HOW WE WORK
E-commerce solutions in 6 steps
An online store sells when five pieces work together: platform, offer, traffic, conversion and retention. This guide explains how we handle each one and how to choose between the three programmes.
1. Store and sales funnel diagnosis
Before proposing any budget, we look at the real numbers: conversion rate by device, average order value, cart abandonment rate, cost per acquisition by channel and the share of customers who buy again.
These five indicators show where the biggest gain is. In many stores, doubling traffic costs more than fixing a slow checkout or a product page with no shipping information.
2. Platform: WooCommerce or Shopify
We work with the two platforms most used by European SMEs. WooCommerce gives full control, low licence costs and SEO freedom; Shopify simplifies maintenance and hosting. The choice depends on the catalogue, the integrations you need and who will run the store every day.
- Payments: cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and local methods such as MB Way and Multibanco.
- Logistics: carrier integration, shipping rates and delivery to several countries.
- Invoicing: connection to certified invoicing software and VAT by destination country (OSS scheme).
3. Offer and positioning
A store that competes only on price always loses to the marketplace. We define the value proposition, the core offer and the reasons to buy from your store: warranty, speed, advice, exclusivity or after-sales service.
This message is then used at every touchpoint, from ads to product pages and automated emails, so customers recognise the brand at each step.
4. Qualified traffic: Google, Meta and SEO
For the launch, Google Shopping and Google Ads and Meta Ads campaigns bring sales faster. In parallel, SEO for online stores builds traffic that does not depend on the daily budget and lowers the average cost per sale over the months.
Every campaign is measured with real conversions and order values, with Consent Mode v2 in place, so automated bidding optimises for revenue and not just for clicks.
How many touchpoints are needed to convert a customer? On average, a customer needs 6 touchpoints before buying, and that number can reach 24. onOrbit Marketing structures 6 strategic touchpoints: Discovery, Consideration, Nurturing, Decision, Conversion and Retention.

5. Conversion: product pages and checkout
Conversion rate optimisation (CRO) works on the details that decide the purchase: photos, original descriptions, reviews, visible delivery times and costs, clear return policies and a checkout with as few steps as possible.
We test changes one at a time and measure their effect on the conversion rate, so every change is a data-based decision rather than an opinion.
6. Retention: email marketing and repeat purchases
Winning a new customer costs far more than selling again to someone who has already bought. That is why every programme includes email marketing automations: welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase, review request and repeat-purchase campaigns.
- Abandoned cart: recovers part of the sales left halfway through checkout.
- Post-purchase: reduces questions, returns and support requests.
- Repeat purchase and cross-sell: increases the value of each customer over time.
